Months of delays related to hardware and management are causing fears that the Osiris rocket may never reach its third flight. Hints from Celestial Space and insider reports hint at this theory.

Osiris was expected to fly in December, carrying the ECHO-1 satellite for Expedition Aerospace. But as of the 11th of March, Osiris remains on the launchpad and no updated launch estimate has been provided.

News from reliable insider sources said that senior Celestial Space officials expect to spend the upcoming months crafting a new overarching goal for Celestial Space, one which is focused on developing the technologies and capabilities for sending humans beyond low Earth orbit.

These goals do not include Osiris as a part of them, which points to a possible cancellation of the program. This is supported by multiple hints by the company which in their plans for 2025, made zero mention of Osiris or the Osiris program.

According to an interview with Kwingo earlier this year, multiple contracts have been signed for the company's upcoming Acheron rocket. And multiple payloads have been moved from Osiris to the new vehicle.

"We've seen strong interest in Acheron from both commercial and government customers, leading to multiple contract signings. We have also moved future payloads from Osiris to the new vehicle. We’re always assessing the best path forward for our fleet and our customers. Acheron represents a major step in efficiency and performance, and our focus is on ensuring its success. We are committed to making strategic decisions that align with the evolving needs of the industry." Said Kwingo, the founder and CEO of Celestial Space Corp. in an interview with RoSpace Now in February.

Jane Doe of RSN, questioned Kwingo on whether Celestial Space will meet the demands of customers and government entities to launch missions, especially due to the lack of updates on near-future flights, and the previous statement of moving payloads between vehicles, and if these mean a possible cancellation of Osiris. His response was vague.

"Our team is actively engaged with customers and government partners to align their mission needs with our capabilities. We're working on our upcoming flight schedule, and we're taking a strategic approach to vehicle assignments. Adjustments are sometimes necessary, and we’ll have more details to share soon as we can, but we are continuing work toward our next launches."

According to the insider, the board team sent a letter two weeks ago calling for Celestial Space to evaluate ways to continue developing exploration spacecraft and launch vehicle technology under the official budget request.
